The Montecito International Composition Sessions Call for Applications
The Montecito International Music Festival in Southern California is now accepting applications for its Composition Program, taking place July 24 – August 2, 2019 on the beautiful campus of La Sierra University in Riverside, CA. This summer will mark the 12th season of the Festival, which brings together hundreds of performers to work directly with such artists as Lynn Harrell, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Glenn Dicterow, Andres Cardenes, Cho Liang Lin, Pablo Zinger, and Leslie Umphrey. This year we are thrilled to welcome new music specialists Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti (viola/composition) and Wendy Richman (also viola!).
The Composition Program accepts up to 12 Composition participants for 10 days of lectures, masterclasses, lessons, and rehearsals. Each participant will work closely with resident composers Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti, Karola Obermueller, Nicholas Deyoe, and Per Bloland, and with a designated ensemble to realize a new piece written for the occasion. Additional guest composers will be announced shortly. Further opportunities exist for readings and a possible concert performance by the resident string orchestra.
The Composition Program offers instruction for two age ranges: 1) Young Composers (ages 13-high school senior) 2) Adult Composers (ages 18 and up, undergraduate through professional)
Composition participants receive: • Private composition lessons • Coached ensemble rehearsals • Master classes with resident faculty and guest composers • Additional classes on technology, contemporary practices, and aesthetics • Access to all of the events and concerts of the Montecito International Music Festival • A recorded performance of the new work at the culminating concert
Application Requirements: Note that the application fee has been cut in half! The fee is now $45 after reimbursement funded by an anonymous donor. Feel free to contact Per Bloland at per.bloland at gmail.com <mailto:per.bloland at gmail.com> for details.
Complete the General Application <http://montecitomusicfestival.com/apply/apply-now/general-application/> form for the Montecito Festival, which requires the submission of links to 2 recordings of compositions. PDF scores will be requested directly via email. Once your application is submitted and the application fee paid, you will receive reimbursement of $45 via Paypal from Per Bloland.
