Hi Craig: The "old-fashioned" standard composer's share on many publishing contracts from major houses were usually around the following....
- 12.5% (sometimes only 10%) of sales revenue.
- 50% of mechanical royalties.
- 50% of synchronization royalties.
- 50% of rental fees (for large ensemble pieces).
- These rates would vary up/downfor other sorts of usages (e.g. including the piece in an anthology, selling it in a foreign country, etc.)
