Rain,
Once again, what a great note to write to encourage someone else! Incidentally, I just saw Walli when I was in Ohio last month. I became friends with him as the result of an e-mail he sent me similar to yours about 10 years ago. We need more of this.

Dear Walli,
It was great to receive this note today in my Inbox. It is so nice of you to take a moment to pass along words of encouragement in light of your work’s acceptance.
I had read about the Green Dot competition, which sounded interesting, but I didn’t feel I had a work that fit – So it is very gratifying to hear that it was a legitimate competition, with a thoughtful and fair judging process and that your work fit the bill and was selected!
Many congratulations on your recent flurry of successes! All the best, Rain

In July, I received this notice from violinist, Vanessa Porter, Chair of the Green Dot International Music Competition, regarding my submission, Suite America, for violin and piano.
"Dear Wallace,
I am happy to announce that you have been chosen as the winner of the Green Dot Journey Composer Competition's Northwestern US region! I look forward to learning and performing "Suite America" and look forward to meeting you in August!
Here is a link to the official announcement on my website: http://greendotjourney.com/about-composer-project/
I've attached a PDF with the Winners' agreement/contract and information about the concert premiere weekend in August. If you could please fill it out and get it back to me that would be fantastic!
Thank you!

Although it seems impossible, at least to me, this is my third International Contest win, in about three months. The reason for this success is that I never quit trying to share my music with the world. Maybe some of my colleagues will find this interesting. (The last time I won an International contest was about 45 years ago. My winning piece was never performed, because of financial reasons).
Although, up until May, I had received MANY rejection notices, "my ship finally came in"! Any composers, especially those in SCI, should know that to win a lottery, you must have a ticket. A ticket costs money. When I dismissed my stupid idea of avoiding entree fees, good luck started happening. My advice to you all is to pay your entry fees and enter as many contests as possible, i.e., when your ears tell you that your music has a chance to win.
Good luck to you all!
