Subject: Institutions that are possibilities for housing composers' archives
Hi all,
I’m sending this request out to the listserv on behalf of a wonderful composer whose career has spanned the latter half of the 20th century and is still actively composing.
The New York Public Library had shown an interest in taking her archives as a bequest, but seems to be asking a hefty fee ($5,000-$10,000) for providing the service of housing her archival materials.
This seems to be contrary to what I have heard from other artist friends, some of whom have received sums from institutions for their archival materials.
I’d appreciate any suggestions of any institutions that might be possibilities for accepting composers’ archives.
