If you happen to be near Muncie, IN, between March 14-16, please consider to join us for the 49th Annual Festival of New Music at Ball State University (https://bsufestivalofnewmusic.weebly.com/ <https://bsufestivalofnewmusic.weebly.com/>): 7:30pm, Sursa Hall, March 14, Thursday 4:00pm, MI216 (Soundhouse C), March 15, Friday (Guest artist presentation: Popebama) 7:30pm, Sursa Hall, March 15, Friday (1st Contemporary Chamber Music Competition) 11:00am, 2:00pm, 7:30pm, Sursa Hall, March 16, Saturday
This year, our special guest artist(s) is the new music group "Popebama" (Erin Rogers, saxophone; Dennis Sullivan, percussion; http://popebama.com <http://popebama.com/>) from Queens, NYC. Among the pieces they will perform are the world premieres of Rick Burkhardt’s (http://rickburkhardt.com <http://rickburkhardt.com/>) “Wing” and BSU faculty composer Dr. Chin Ting CHAN’s (http://www.chintingchan.com <http://www.chintingchan.com/>) "fuse", as well as pieces by composers Chelsea Loew (https://www.chelsealoew.com <https://www.chelsealoew.com/>) and Jeff Herriott (http://jeffherriott.com <http://jeffherriott.com/>), winners of the national call for scores (https://bsufestivalofnewmusic.weebly.com/call-for-works.htm <https://bsufestivalofnewmusic.weebly.com/call-for-works.htm>). Popebama's performances will include other adventurous works for saxophone and percussion including those composed by themselves, over five concerts. Other pieces on the 3-day programs are being finalized and will be published online.
The closest parking area to the Sursa Hall is the ground floor of the R7 parking garage.
