Subject: Stuff for the PC DAW to drive -- 2 scenarios
Hi there, collective wisdom! A couple of years ago, I asked a newbie question about digital composing and got lots of wonderfully helpful responses -- so here's a (I hope) not-so-newbie question.
When you buy Logic Pro X for the Mac, you get not only a DAW, but lots of serviceable-to-superb sounds/synths/samples (I did NOT mean for that to be so alliterative!) to drive with the DAW. Here are my questions from the PC side of the street:
1) Is there a single package of sounds/synths/samples, with or without a DAW thrown in, that one could buy for PC that would be roughly equivalent in size/scope/quality to what comes with Logic? Note that I am NOT asking about high-end sample libraries etc. -- just rough equivalence with Logic with a single purchase.
2) Now, let's say that I've bought Reaper for my PC, and I'm hoping to build a totally/mostly open source library of stuff that would, again, end up roughly equivalent to what comes with Logic. I'm assuming that this would not be as simple as downloading package X from site Y -- what sorts of things would folks recommend?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
All best, Jonathan
PS -- As for me, longtime user of Finale on PC (since, gulp, version 1.0 for Windows) -- more recent user of Finale and Logic on Mac. "Write music from this day forward until you die, love your work, honor your profession, and be flexible in the way you create yourself." -- Tina Davidson
