2018 Missouri State University Composition Festival Call for Scores
Up to three compositions will be selected for performance during the 29th annual MSU Composition Festival to be held Feb. 12-14, 2018 on the Missouri State University campus in Springfield. An honorarium of $750 will be provided to selected composers to help defray travel costs associated with attending the performance. Composers of the programmed pieces are required to attend the main Festival concert on Tuesday, Feb. 13. There will be opportunities to interact with MSU students and the broader campus community through rehearsals, panel discussions, and/or master classes during the Festival.
Submission details: 1) The 2018 Festival will feature the Missouri State University Symphony under the direction of Dr. Christopher Kelts. Composers may submit one piece with a duration up to 12 minutes for consideration. Works involving soloists are welcome. Maximum instrumentation - 3,2,3,2; 4,3,3,1; timp+3; pno/cel, hp; strings
2) Selected composers must provide all performance materials. MSU will not pay rental or other fees associated with performance materials.
3) Submissions will only be accepted through the online service Music Avatar. Scores and recordings (recommended, but not required) should be submitted at http://www.musicavatar.org/categories/2018-Missouri-State-University-Composition-Festival/index.html
4) Selections will be made and composers notified by Oct. 30, 2017.
