Subject: Animation of Classical Discoveries broadcast with Marvin Rosen and Rain Worthington
Dear Friends and Music Colleagues,
I’m excited to share this project… I had an idea to create a couple of short animated segments of the Classical Discoveries broadcast Marvin and I did last January around the release of my orchestral CD, Dream Vapors. So I’ve been working with an animator, Sabrina Pena Young, who had done an animation of her Sci-fi opera, Libertaria.
The segment I chose to animate first was Marvin and me talking about my piece, Fast Through Dark Winds. This was a blast to do. Thanks to Sabrina Pena Young's animation and also to Marvin Rosen for his willingness to be transformed into an animated avatar!
Of course all of it is just “loosely” based on realities, but the interview voices are our real voices which is great. Sabrina created a “radio studio” set for me, based on some photos of the WPRB studio. I love all the extra bits of animation for the facial expressions, head tilts, and hand motions that she added as nice expressive touches. And, kind of fun to see Marvin and me as these primitive little avatar characters.
The interview part is only a few minutes for this segment and it closes with Marvin's introduction leading right into the music track of Fast Through Dark Winds with my moon/cloud/tree images. All the credits come at the end of the music.
Just uploaded it to my YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/njmxH8QwyUY
Plus, it is posted now to my composer FB: https://www.facebook.com/Rain-Worthington-Composer-281516428539459/ and my Twitter: https://twitter.com/rainworthington
An extra bonus is that Sabrina told me that her young daughter liked the music – Perhaps this could be an avenue to introduce contemporary classical music to younger students. Hope you have fun watching it, and let me know if you re-post it to other sites.
All best, Rain
