Subject: Composition degree advice
Dear Per,
We require three terms of Applied Composition Lessons, and Three terms of any of the following:
Applied Composition, Applied Arranging & Scoring, Applied Film Scoring, or Applied Song Writing.
We discourage students from doubling up on two composition lessons in a single term, but we allow doubling up on lessons other than Composition (i.e. Arranging & Scoring, Film Scoring, and Song Writing). This ensures academic integrity so students are unable to take credit for the same work in different lesson studios.
It's been our experience students have plenty on their plate as freshmen, and getting freshman theory out of the way is important for the theory/comp students. Most students, therefore, begin lessons in the sophomore year. But I'm interested in hearing what everyone else thinks about 6 terms vs. 8 terms of comp lessons....
Thanks, David
