Dear Amy, At my school (community college with a faculty union) we teach Music Theory as a combined four-credit course, which meets 4 days/week for 75 minutes each day, including aural skills as a lab component. Our master agreement states that the lab gets a multiplier, so it works out to a contribution of not-quite five hours to a faculty load. At my previous position (small state "university" with no union), Theory was three credits, Aural Skills was one (but met twice a week for 50 minutes as a lab), and faculty load was determined by the number of credits awarded to the students.
