Subject: Brian Fennelly -- In Memorium;
It is with great sadness that I have learned of the death, yesterday, of Brian Fennelly, a kind and gentle man, friend to so many in new music. A long-time member of SCI, Brian received awards and commissions from many institutions including the Koussevitzky and Fromm Foundations, the NEA, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His music was performed and recorded extensively. A fixture on the NY music scene, he founded the Washington Square Contemporary Music Society in 1976. For more details of his life and work please see his listing in the American Composers Alliance, http://composers.com/brian-fennelly
