Subject: Premiere tonight in Tacoma
Clarinetist Andrew Friedman and pianist Karen Ganz give the world premiere tonight of the clarinet+piano version of my sonata, "In the Language of Meditation."
Day & time: Thursday, May 21, at 7:30pm Venue: University of Puget Sound Kilworth Memorial Chapel, 1500 N. Warner St., Tacoma, Washington 98416
"In the Language of Meditation" was composed in 2013 for viola & piano. It is in three movements:
1. Observations from a Rooftop Garden 2. Contemplating a Mountain with Love 3. Reflecting on a Visit with Birds
An adaptation for alto saxophone & piano was premiered in January this year by Adam Pelandini & Michael Refvem at the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference in Bellingham. You can watch a video of their performance on my website: www.gregbartholomew.com/meditationindex.html
Other works on the program include: Rozsa: Sonatina for Unaccompanied Clarinet Stanford: Sonata for Clarinet and Piano Bassett: Soliloquies Cavallini: Carnival of Venice Variations for E-flat clarinet and piano
